This Privacy Policy was last updated as of May 23rd, 2017.

What Information We Collect From You

Any time you visit the Site, we collect certain information from you.  This information may be Personal Information, or Automatic Information.  Both kinds of information may be stored in cookies.

Cookies: Like many website operators, we use cookies.  Cookies are small pieces of data placed on a user’s computer for identification purposes.  “Session” cookies terminate when you close your browser.  We may use Personal Information in connection with session cookies in order to improve your experience and support personalized service on the Site, such as by remembering certain content preferences indicated by you in previous. That Personal Information is only stored until you close your browser.  “Persistent” cookies remain on your computer until you delete them manually. Persistent cookies may also be used by third parties to serve ads on our behalf and to monitor the Site to provide us with non-personally identifiable usage information and statistics.  We do not link the data in persistent cookies to any Personal Information, and we do not allow third parties to do so either.

How We Share Your Personal Information

Partners: We may employ or partner with third parties to carry out work on our behalf or to fulfill certain services and features on the Site.  For example, third parties serve advertising on the Site, host the site, we refer users to third parties for professional home services, and we use a third party payment processing service. Where we use a third party to process any Personal Information in any way, that third party is under contractual obligations not to use your Personal Information in any way except to fulfill the request you make.

Advertising and Analytics:

We may use third parties to serve ads on the site. Certain third parties may automatically collect information about your visits to this and other websites, your IP address, the browser you use to visit the site, and in our emails/communications. Generally, we do not proactively share any data with third party advertisers; however, due to the way our site is currently structured, our third party data partners may be able to access certain data. The personally identifiable information (PII) that we capture is an IP address and an email address. When we share information with advertisers or data partners, the shared information includes hashed email addresses and cookie data. Our partners may link the nonpersonal information we share with them to the cookie stored on your browser or device. Our partners use this information to recognize you across different channels and platforms over time for advertising, analytics, attribution, and reporting purposes. To learn more about interest-based advertising in general and to opt out, please visit http://www.aboutads.info/choices and https://www.hometalk.com/api/googleppid/optout. However, for users for whom GDPR regulation applies (i.e. European users) and who have not provided consent to Hometalk to capture, store and process their data, we will not be sharing their information with advertisers and/or data partners. We do not currently receive any PII from third parties.
